The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) investigations have exposed that the 11 youths who had been abducted and who disappeared from  Colombo and suburbs have been murdered. The case was called today (16) in the Colombo magistrate's court. Former Navy officer Gamini,  was arrested yesterday  by the Criminal Investigations Department for loading the bodies of the murdered youth into a vehicle, the CID  informed  court today. This mass murder runs counter to all the sanctimonious, two-faced talk of the uniformed gentry popularly thought of as war heroes,  patriots and saviours of the people.   The Criminal Investigation Department has informed  court that the role of the former Navy Commander, Wasantha Karannagoda too is under investigation.
Meanwhile,  Attorney-at-Law Ajith Prasanna, who appeared on behalf of the defence, and who had given press interviews was  strongly advised by the Fort Magistrate Lanka Jayaratne. Senior attorney Janaka Bandara and advocate J.C. Weliamunna told  court today that the attorney Ajith Prasanna will be pressurized by the CID officers, witnesses and aggrieved party members. The magistrate inquired from lawyer Ajith Prasanna about this allegation. Attorney-at-Law  tried to explain the evidence given by the witness Vijayananthan who was involved in the case. But the Magistrate rejected the attorney's statement and asked him to answer the allegation made by the state attorneys. However,  Attorney Ajith Prasanna, has not been able to correctly state for whom he was appearing. . Accordingly Magistrate Lanka Jayaratne has stated that the conduct of Attorney Ajith Prasanna is a violation of the Act on Victims and Witnesses and the Investigative Officers. The magistrate strongly advised  lawyer Prasanna that he could be prosecuted in another court  for his behaviour.
Attorney-at-Law Achala Seneviratne, appearing for the petitioner, stated that international warrants were issued to arrest Prasad Chandana Hettiarachchi, a fugitive who is a suspect in the case.
Former Navy Media Spokesman Commodore DKP Dassanayake has been arrested on suspicion by the Criminal Investigation Department,  and  released because for fear of losing "Ranaviru" and "Patriot" votes. Yet this mass murder   cannot now be reversed. What is needed now is to assist the Criminal Investigation Department to bring the murderers to  justice.
