    Two JVP Members Killed, Govt. Attempting To Evade Responsibility

Colombo TelegraphThe government is attempting to evade the responsibility of the shooting at the JVP meeting held at Katuwana in Hambantota District. In an announcement issued by the Director General of the Media Center for National Security after a long time states the shooting was the result of a clash between two factions of the JVP. However, it is being revealed that the shooting has been carried out by Joolampitiye Amare, an underworld leader manipulated by the government.
A woman and a boy were killed and 25 others were critically injured when an unidentified group shot indiscriminately at a Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) political meeting held in Katuwana , in the Beliaththa area in Hambantota, this evening.  .
It is confirmed that Kiripitiyegedera Samanthe (18 years) and Edirimannage Manel (50) were killed in the shooting.  A group of ten had come in five motorcycles to carry out the shooting. The Member of the Central Committee of the JVP Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa and several others had been on stage at the time of shooting. A spokesman for the JVP stated that the government was trying to evade the responsibility of the shooting.
The owner of the house where the meeting was held and several others have been injured. Police Spokesperson SP Ajith Rohana said, “The incident had taken place at around 7 p.m., this evening, where a JVP meeting attended by approximately 150 members was shot at by one of the four to five motorcyclists who arrived at the meeting, killing a woman and a boy, while critically injuring 25 others.”
