ஜனாதிபதி மகிந்த ராஜபக்ஷவுக்கும் வடமாகாண முதலமைச்சர் சி.வி.விக்னேஸ்வரனுக்கும் இடையிலான முக்கிய சந்திப்பு ஒன்று இன்று வியாழக்கிழமை காலை இடம்பெற்றுள்ளது.
வடமாகாண சபை அமைக்கப்பட்ட பின்னர் மாகாண சபை எதிர்கொள்ளும் பிரச்சினைகள் குறித்து இந்தச் சந்திப்பில் ஆராயப்பட்டுள்ளதாக தகவல்கள் தெரிவிக்கின்றன.
இந்தச் சந்திப்பில் ஜனாதிபதியுடன் அவரது செயலாளர் லலித் வீரதுங்க உட்பட முக்கிய அதிகாரிகளும், முதலமைச்சருடன் தமிழ்த் தேசியக் கூட்டமைப்பு பாராளுமன்ற உறுப்பினர் எம்.ஏ.சுமந்திரனும் பேச்சுக்களில் கலந்துகொண்டனர்.

MR – Wiggie Talks Today; Decides Immediate Action On Urgent Issues

The Chief Minister of the Northern Province Justice C.V.Wigneswaran, together with TNA National List MPM.A.Sumanthiran met the President, on the President’s invitation today afternoon, at 12.30 p.m. at Temple Trees. The Secretary to the President Lalith Weeratunga, the Secretary to the Cabinet Sumith Abeysinghe and the Secretary to the Ministry of Finance Dr. P.B. Jayasundara also attended the meeting.

The Chief Minister raised several urgent issues which are impediments to the effective functioning of the Northern Provincial Council, namely, the appointment of key officials, the provision of required finances and enabling the Provincial Council to exercise the powers currently devolved under the Constitution and moving beyond to make devolution meaningful.

It was decided at the meeting to take immediate action on several overdue urgent issues to enable the Northern Provincial Council to commence functioning smoothly to address the needs of the war affected people of the North and especially of its war widows, the displaced,  the war orphans, the long term PTA detainees, women headed households and other vulnerable sections of the Northern society.
