Law enforced by people on law enforcers -Police SI and sergeant tied to tree for unruly conduct
(Lanka-e-News- 09.Jan.2014, 11.30PM) Hereunder is a tale from ‘Believe it or not’ of the Rajapakses – not Ripleys of course !
In Sri Lanka (SL) which according to its President is ‘the Asia’s miracle in the making’ , never before heard hooliganism and criminal activities of law enforcers too are in the making !
The residents of Ganthoruwa were 7th Tuesday forced to tie a sub Inspector and a sergeant of the police in civil attire to a tree , for violent rowdy behavior in a drunken state after arriving at a vehicle garage . The residents had to resort to this action in order to establish peace and order in the area, based on reports.
These two rowdy cops of Rajapakse’s SL or ‘Asia’s miracle in the making’, have been identified as a sub inspector attached to the crime investigation division , Kandy police headquarters and a sergeant attached to the Kegalle police division.
A bus belonging to a friend of these two cops is in the aforementioned garage for repairs .As there has been a delay to complete the repairs , these two cops along with three others have gone to the garage on the 6 th night. Following a heated dispute the group had got together and assaulted the garage owner.
The entire group had been drunk , and upon hearing the screams of the garage owner , the neighbors who rushed to the scene have tied the Sub inspector , sergeant and their group to a tree . Later the rascal cops and their group of scoundrels were handed over to the Peradeniya police through the police emergency unit that was summoned to the scene.
It may not be out of place if we recall some of the recent monumental rackets , heinous crimes and egregious misconduct of police officers which in reality are rising meteorically since the day SL President Rajapakse dreamed of making SL , an ‘Asia’s miracle in the making’:
On the 1st of January 2014 , on the auspicious new year day , the OIC of Wellampitiya police was arrested for dabbling in heroin.
On the 4 th of January the OIC of the traffic division police was arrested by the anti Bribery and corruption Commission officers when trying to accept a bribe of Rs. 10,000 to release a trishaw that was taken into custody following an accident.
A few days ago , the OIC of Mahawa police crime division OIC was arrested for soliciting sexual favors from a woman .
Tuesday , two police officers have been taught a lesson by the people of Ganthoruwa for violent disgraceful behavior .
It is significant to note that as in the case of heroin container that was detected , where it has come to light so many similar container loads of heroin must have been passed earlier without detection , so in these instances of police crimes too it is only a few police crimes that have come to light , while countless many such police crimes would have gone unexposed .
It is therefore the inescapable and urgent duty of President Rajapakse to abandon his day dream ‘ Asia’s miracle in the making’ and come to grips with reality in the interests of the people who elected him to power not for him to day dream , and address the dangerous lawless climate in the country of which he is the architect , and none other .
