Even two year commemoration of death of murdered fisherman Antony obstructed by govt.


(Lanka-e-News-17.Feb.2014, 5.30PM) While the joint national fisheries activity committee has organized a series of demonstrations Island wide to mark the second death anniversary of the murder of Antony , a father of two who was killed when he participated in a protest at Chilaw two years ago against the raising of fuel prices unreasonably by the government , the latter according to reports reaching Lanka e news is hampering and impeding that impending demonstration.
The demonstrations are hold in the towns of Jaffna, Potuvil, Galle and Chilaw, on 15th. but it is learnt that already the police and the forces are creating undue obstacles and hindrances against the organization of these demonstrations.
The residents in the camps of Jaffna have specially been met and told that within three months they will be provided with homes , and therefore not to participate in the protests. A bus load of people who were traveling to Jaffna for the protests have also been sent back . The people of Mullikulam who were trying to travel were also intimidated and threatened that if they do go , their Van would be set on fire .
Two bus drivers and an individual had also been separately threatened with death via the same phone number 072 6998507 when they were scheduled to transport people from Mannar to Jaffna.
In addition, people of Pottuvil who had similarly arranged to travel were summoned to the police and threatened against participating in the protests .
