400 years old jumma mosque of historic value razed to the ground by Gota’s forces !
(Lanka-e-News- 19.Aug.2014, 2.30PM) A most precious and most valuable ancient mosque of the Muslims with a history of over 400 years in existence in Keerimalai ,Kinniya, Trincomalee was razed to the ground by the forces on the instructions of Gotabaya Rajapakse. This Jumma mosque that was built in 1733 A.D. was totally reduced to dust on the 16 th Saturday night .

According to the residents of that area , the forces have chased away the shocked public who went there on hearing of this devastation of a religious place. The public were not allowed by the forces even to get close to the venue of wanton destruction 

In 2009 after the conclusion of the war , the residents were ordered to leave that area and seek location elsewhere , while the forces forcibly acquired it.

This mosque that was open to the devotees for 400 long years was not opened after the forces forcibly took over the region. While the politicos and the forces had given an assurance that a solution will be found to the mosque’s issue , on 16 th night under the cover of darkness it was totally demolished and devastated by the forces.

The administrators of the mosque have lodged a complaint with the police .

It is significant to note that this 400 years old mosque which had a most historic and religious value locally and internationally earned a place in the world heritage . It is a pity that the wickedness of the brutal Rajapakses which cannot bear to see anything worthwhile and useful to the people did not want to spare even this most valuable religious site .
