TNA MP E.Saravanabavan Threatened Me, Says a Senior Journalist.

In a letter addressed to the Free Media MovementFMM) a senior Tamil journalist A. Nixon allege that TNA Jaffna district MP and Owner of Uthayan newspaper

threatened him over the phone. he has complaint regarding the threat to the spokesman of the Tamil National Alliance Mr. Suresh Premachandran and also to Sri Lankan Tamil Media Alliance. (SLTMA).

SLB has not been able to verify the threat from independent sources.

Dear Sir-
Threatened by Mr.E.Saravanabavan MP

This is to inform you that on 4/12/2014 at 6.30 p.m. I was threatened by Mr.E.Saravanabavan, Administrative Director of Uthayan Publication and Member of Parliament of Tamil National Alliance, Jaffna District.

This threat by Saravanabavan was in connection with the speech made by me on 30/11/2014 at Jaffna in connection with introducing book “En Ezhuththaayutham” (My pen My weapon) launched by former editor Mr N.Vithiayatharan of Uthayan and Sudar Ozhi Publication.

He further threatened stating that I have no right to say anything about Uthayan Publication and said “ cjad; gw;wp Ngrpdhy; itf;fNtz;ba ,lj;jpy; ckf;F itg;Ngd;” and he cut the telephone conversation.

I immediately made a complaint about this threat to spokesman of the Tamil National Alliance Mr. Suresh Premachandran and also to Sri Lankan Tamil Media Alliance. (SLTMA)

I am now bringing this to your notice. I have 16 years of experience in journalism. I served in Veerakesari Tamil national paper for 10 years and also held the post of Former Secretary of the SLTMA. I am a member of several Journalists’ Organizations.

As far as I am concerned, I consider the threat to my life by Saravanabavan is a serious matter and bringing this to your notice to take a suitable action.
