Minister of electricity and energy Ranjith Siyambalapitiya said, “The people of Kegalle are very happy that their dream of a fully occupied playground and a swimming pool for this district has come true. There is an old saying that if one school is opened 100 prisons would be closed. Meantime if one play ground is opened how many hospitals would be closed. How many hospital beds would be reduced? Sports are so essential for our health”

He made this comments today 22nd when he came to lay the foundation stone for the construction of the new sports complex in the Kegalle district. Rs. 218.46 million has been estimated for the construction of a fully equipped indoor stadium, a 400m track pavilion, a 25m length swimming pool and a modern facility audience stand. Instructions has been given to relevant institutions to construct all these within one year
Expressing his opinion minister Ranjith Siyambalapitiya said The fame and the reputation brought by sports are very helpful to shape the success of our life. A Sport is a guidance to successfully face life’s obstacles and challenges. We are trying to give that guidance to the children’s of this district.
This is a unique concept started by the previous regime. We should continue the good things forward. Politicians who worked in two divisions during the former regime has now come together as a national government and trying to give an unimaginable gift to the children’s
living in the Kegalle district. It is very important to praise whatever is jointly done.
Sports minister Dayasiri Jayasekara, deputy minister H.M.M. Haris, parliament MP’s, Provincial council members and many people representatives participated.
