The anti corruption voice today made a visit to the office of Anti Corruption Committee today the 22nd to check the progress of the complaints made so far. The convener of the anti corruption voice and provincial council minister Wasantha Samarasinghe and his team joined this.

Wasantha Samarasinghe gave the following opinion after the meeting
From last February we have submitted many complaints to the secretary of the Anti Corruption Committee about plundering public property, illegal financial frauds and large financial misappropriations. We came to day to check what has happened to those complaints. We met the
director and discussed about the progress they have made about the complaints. They gave us an action report of the progress they have made. According to the report they have sent all complaints with the evidences to the CID (Criminal Investigation Department) and FCID
(Financial Crime Investigation Department)
According to the list many complaints have gone to the CID, FCID and to the Commission against Bribery and Corruption. It is being many months now the complaints with evidences has been sent but so far nothing has happened. We questioned the committee what is the action you are supposed to take now. They told us they have sent all these information’s to the relevant institutions and waiting for their feedback. We made these complaints to the anti corruption committee not only to hand over those to the relevant institutions. The anti corruption committee should check the progress of the complaints made to those institutions.
Some politicians who are alleged for these corruptions are now holding ministerial ositions in the current Good Governance. What is the reason behind not taking actions against them? We continuously questioned regarding this last few weeks. We wish to know who instructs the committee not to take actions or delay the actions taken against the complaints forwarded to the CID and the FCID. Meantime what is the reason for the complaints not to go beyond the Attorney General? The Attorney General is under the justice minister. CID and the FCID are under the purview of the IGP. Therefore the justice minister and the IGP is directly responsible for this. Meantime the cabinet heads that is the Prime Minister and the President too should hold responsibility for this.
