Chief Inspector arrested for stealing wallet at bank

The officer-in-charge (OIC) of the Kankesanthurai in-training unit,
Chief Inspector Kandayya Jeewan Kumara, has been arrested for allegedly
stealing an individual’s wallet inside a bank in Batticaloa.
A resident of Eragama in Ampara had lodged a complaint with the police
regarding the theft of his wallet at a private bank in Batticaloa.
Acting on this complaint, an investigation was carried out by police
under the instruction of the Batticaloa SSP and the arrest was made.
Investigations were carried out with the help of the footage obtained from the CCTV cameras installed within the bank.
The arrested police officer was remanded till February 05 after being produced before the Batticaloa District Judge.
