Sri Lankan security forces interrogate Tamil mother as she pays tribute to her son in Nallur

Sri Lankan army and Nallur police interrogated an elderly Tamil mother who sought to pay homage to her son at the Thiyagi Thileepan Memorial.
The Tamil mother from Kokkuvil, Jaffna had visited the Thiyagi Thileepan Memorial in Nallur yesterday afternoon to pay homage to her son who perished in the armed conflict.
She was blocked from paying her respects, interrogated for an extended period of time before being released.
This is the latest incident in Sri Lanka's escalating crackdown across the North-East. In the lead up to Maaveerar Naal, Sri Lanka's security forces have been obstructing Tamils as they prepare to commemorate the fallen. In addition to this, a series of court bans have been ordered, prohibiting Tamils from holding public commemoration events.
