You have destroyed the country and party – Fowzie tells MaRa to his face (Lanka-e-News -13.Feb.2013, 10.30PM) Senior Minister A H M Fowzie had openly and directly criticized MaRa bitterly to his face and walked out at a meeting. Fowzie had acted this way in protest against the appointment of Faizer Mustafa , the deputy economic development Minister as the SLFP organizer for Colombo. Musthafa is one who somersaulted from UNP after supporting Ranil Wickremesinghe in 2005 purportedly to strengthen the ‘two (evil) hands’ of MaRa . Musthafa was in the Lanka workers Congress, UNP and others and became notorious for deserting them. During the impeachment process , with his father Faiz Musthafa stuck their necks out for MaRa to slaughter Muslim style though , in order to defeat the duly appointed Chief justice Dr. Shiranee Bandaranayake. In reciprocation , MaRa appointed Faizer Musthafa as the Deputy Minister and as the Colombo district SLFP organizer. Colombo is the ‘kingdom’ of senior SLFP er Fowzie and his son Nauzer Fowzie. They too have made sacrifices sticking their necks out for MaRa. But , since the latter is following the policy of kissing and embracing those who join from other parties and mollycoddling them after axing his own party members , MaRa had cut Fowzie from right under his feet and installed Faizer as the SLFP Organizer for Colombo. In this connection when MaRa and Fowzie had discussions at Temple trees there had been a flare up. Fowzie had explained what amount of sacrifice he has made on behalf of the Colombo electorate , while pointing out to MaRa ‘ you are the party leader , you can do anything you want , but they must be done with responsibility.’ MaRa of course had retorted in the only choicest language he knows best as a land crocodile , and asked Fowzie , ‘Are you trying to throw your weight about before me?’ Fowzie who flew into a fury had said , ‘ I don’t have to throw my weight about , and I don’t care if I lose everything’. Now the country has been destroyed and finished , the party is also destroyed and finished . You do anything you want.’ . Fowzie after saying that , had left the venue in a huff. He had not even cared to address MaRa as President. Our reporter at Temple Trees reported , MaRa who thinks he is high and mighty and there is no one who would dare to berate him to his face was shocked and bewildered at Fowzie’s insults so much so he was petrified . Feb 14, Colombo: Sri Lankan authorities arrested an Army officer and four soldiers for attempting to steal a stock of gold hidden by the members of the defeated Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) organization. According to report in the Sinhala daily,The Divaina, an Army Lieutenant Colonel and four soldiers were caught digging the ground in Vellamulliwaikkal area where the last battles between the Sri Lankan Army and the LTTE took place in May 2009. Soldiers attached to the 29th National Guard have observed the group digging and informed the superiors. The suspects were arrested later at a road block by the 621 brigade of the Army as the suspects were trying to escape in a double cab vehicle, the report said. A high level probe is reportedly under way over the incident. It is believed that the fleeing LTTE cadres have left the gold they have taken from the civilians in the war-battered region. The Sri Lankan government in 2010 said it has recovered 110 kilos of gold and jewelry valued at over Rs. 490 million from the areas controlled by the LTTE after the war.
