SL Air Force is going to lose the commander post in the Kothalawa Defense Academy

It
is the normal practice to appoint a senior, suitable and qualified
officer for the vice chancellor post in the Kothalawa Defense Academy
from the air force, navy and the army. This post use to be given for the
above forces for a tenure following to another force in rotation.
Currently the post is held by the army and conventionally the next
position should be given to the air force.
The current commander or the vice chancellor in the Kothalawala Defense
Academy is due to become the chief of staff in the army soon. Confirmed
sources reports that stealthy arrangements have been made to fill the
vacant position by another army officer without appointing an air force
officer. The ironic point to note is that the selected army officer is
due to go on retirement completing his 55 years. This is the first time a
person who is not in the active service is going to be appointed.
The logic to bring this proposal has been cited stating at a time when
there isn’t a suitable person to appoint to the chief of staff position
which is vacant in the air force how to find a person to appoint to the
Kothalawala Defense academy. However there is an opinion in the air
force that the current President, Prime Minister and the current deputy
defense minister will not give permission for such an unfair
appointment.
We hope the President, Prime Minister or the deputy defense minister
would focus their attention to the following senior officers to appoint
for the required post.
