An unarmed battle in the north

An unarmed battle in the north

The Northern Province provincial health minister Dr. P. Sathyalingam said police and health reports confirm that the use of narcotics is spreading fast in the Northern Province.

The reason for that is that although the war has ended the people’s problems has not been resolved.

The minister said death of relatives, disappearances, unreliable future, family problems and poverty has become the main cause of the problems.

Dr. Sathyalingam said the provincial health ministry has taken many health workshops to minimize the use of narcotics but he said it’s not an easy task to conduct this alone.

He said taking in to custody, enforcing strict laws should be mandatory but the police, public organizations and all other sectors should join together to minimize the use of narcotic in the north.
