India calls for early withdrawal of Lanka’s emergency regulations

‘A devolution package, building on the 13th A, will help create necessary conditions for genuine reconciliation’

India has urged Sri Lanka to swiftly implement measures to ensure resettlement and genuine reconciliation, including early return of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) to their respective homes, early withdrawal of emergency regulations, investigations into allegations of human rights violations, restoration of normalcy in affected areas and redress of humanitarian concerns of affected families, according to a joint communiqué issued yesterday.    Full Story>>>

Retired Senior DIG Nimal Lewke says the controversial ‘Darusman Report’ had made a shameful attempt to discredit Sri Lanka on the basis of unsubstantiated allegations levelled against law enforcement agencies.
