FOUR ELEPHANTS ELECTROCUTED IN VALAICHCHENAI

Four wild elephants were electrocuted in the area between 129 and 130km post of railway in Valaichchenai, after coming into contact with a low lying high-tension power cable last night.The bodies of the elephants were discovered by police after a villager had contacted the 119 emergency police hotline to report the incident this morning.
Police said several power poles have leaned causing a high tension line to lower, and that they believe the elephants may have come into contact with the cable.
