Let’s make 2014 an auspicious New Year!

 Tuesday, 31 December 2013

new year jvp2014 New Year dawns when Sri Lanka, as a country, has not achieved any victory. At present the country is economically broken down; politically bankrupt and culturally forgone. This is the pathetic situation Mahinda Rajapaksa family rule has dragged the country towards and 2014 would never be an auspicious new year. As such, conventional wishes of ‘Happy New Year’ are  meaninglrss.
The spiralling cost of living is unbearably high for the masses in Sri Lanka. Also, Rajapaksa regime has not been able to arrest the speedily declining income of the masses. Instead of economic strategy that brings relief to masses, the regime has made economic vagrancy that allows local and international racketeers to suck the essence of our land its economic strategy. Under the circumstances, Sri Lanka has been converted to a ‘hub’ of gambling, drugs, liquor, prostitution, crime and money laundering.
The idiotic foreign policy followed by Mahinda Rajapakse regime that is establishing its family rule by destroying unity and brotherhood among communities and denying democratic rights to the people has given the opportunity to imperialists to enforce sanctions against Sri Lanka.
2014 that dawns under such circumstances would never be an auspicious new year. As such, the masses in the country, without restricting themselves for making wishes, have been forced to understand the challenges confronted by the country, organize themselves and struggle against the dictatorship of Rajapakse family.

The JVP emphasizes that the year 2014 should be made a year when masses organize themselves against the dictatorship of the Rajapakse family and the bankrupt capitalism that protects it, struggle against it and topples it. Let us make this a year of victories for masses.
Let’s make 2014 an auspicious year for the masses!
