war widows in Kilinochchi recently, the MP has said that these families
should be provided with extensive livelihood assistance ensuring their
social safety to rebuild their lives steadily.
He has added that the TNA has
continuously requested the government to provide adequate livelihood
assistance to the war victims in the North and East, but the government

Willie takes up task of making Basil the PM!
- Saturday, 24 May 2014
As
we reported previously, economic development minister Basil Rajapaksa’s
political affairs committee has undertaken the task of making him the
prime minister of the next government.
To realize that task, his political affairs committee has been further
strengthened with the inclusion of Laksala chairman Anil Koswatte and
former general manager of Department of Railways Lalithasiri Gunaruwan.
Minister Rajapaksa has proposed to his political affairs that someone
should make full-time commitment to make him the PM. However, every
member of the committee have cited various reasons and evaded accepting
that responsibility.
The minister has noted that someone with political connections should
work permanently from the party steering office at Temple Trees. As the
committee members were passing the buck, secretary to the ministry
Botanical Gardens and Public Recreation of Willie Gamage has volunteered
to accept that responsibility.
Accordingly, he will resign from his ministry secretary position and
take up the task on a full-time basis. Minister Basil Rajapaksa has
highly commended Willie Gamage for volunteering to do so, all the more
because both have been bred in the same village and known to each other
for more than 40 years.
