A committee to supervise cabinet

Prime minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has decided to appoint a special committee to supervise activities of the new cabinet. He has taken the decision on a request by Rajitha Senaratne.

The main objective of this committee is to supervise if the ministers fulfill their responsibilities properly, and both the government and the opposition have reached agreement on that. They are yet to arrive at a consensus on the members of this committee, say sources. This committee will handover a supervisory report every month to the prime minister, said the sources.
