Electronics Industry

Many countries in South-East and East Asia transformed their economies into newly industrialized status during the last several decades taking advantage of the rapidly advancing electronics technology. Many established companies in the West began setting up plants in these countries to manufacture a variety of electronics products under their brand names initially. Suitable environment for attracting foreign direct investments (FDI) was ensured by the respective governments. Later, fiscal incentives and encouragement provided by their own governments and with research and development support given by government institutes, enabled these countries to develop their own brands incorporating more advanced technologies and innovations. The case of South Korea is a good example.
