Passport fraudster Weerawansa’s efforts to use courts as his tool boomerangs..!
(Lanka-e-News-
29.July.2016, 10.00PM) The efforts of Wimal Weerawansa the notorious
fraudster to use the court as a tool to conceal his frauds and rackets
had boomeranged on him!
When the Commission inquiring into allegations of bribery and corruption
summoned him and his wife to inquire about how they acquired so much
wealth , this grade nine qualified moron in characteristic deceitful
style filed an application in the supreme court (SC) requesting a
writ to revoke the notice issued on him by the Commission, and to issue
an interim injunction order to refrain the Commission from filing
action against them in the High court.
To the utter dismay and disappointment of Weerawansa alias Modawansa who
knows next to nothing about laws of the country or lawful conduct ,
the SC yesterday (28) dismissed his application without even a hearing ,
while declaring there are no legal grounds whatsoever to pursue his
request.
The SC also rejected the application of Weerawansa that prayed for a notice to be issued by court to the Bribery Commission .
The SC also rejected the application of Weerawansa that prayed for a notice to be issued by court to the Bribery Commission .
The application was yesterday examined by a panel of three judges
comprising Priyasad Dep, Upali Abeyrathne and K.T. Chithrasiri
The additional solicitor General Sanjaya Rajaratne PC pointed out to
court today , that issuing notice to the relevant parties is a
preliminary step in investigations conducted by the Bribery Commission
under the Bribery and Corruption Act, but if every one on whom notices
are issued starts making similar applications before the court the
Bribery Commission will not be able to conduct any investigations in the
future .
The Bribery Commission which conducted an investigation following a
complaint received by the commission that the assets and liabilities of
Weerawansa and his wife be probed , issued notice on Weerawansa and his
wife to appear before the Bribery Commission in connection with the
complaint.
In the notices issued on Weerawansa , the Bribery Commission had
requested , if his assets were not the outcome of earnings from bribery
and corruption under section 23 (b) 4 of the Bribery and corruption Act
, to cite grounds.
