Colombo floods receding

According to observations floods in Kaduwela, Kelaniya and Kohilawatta areas are slowly receding. Due to the blockages in low lands, the draining floods are stagnated at several locations. 

Due to this condition the area is prone for diseases and health officials need to pay attention to these areas before an epidemic erupts. Access roads in Kaduwela, Wellampitiya, Kohilawatta, Ambatale, Kelaniya areas are now clear enabling transportation. Yet the road from Kaduwela to Avissawella is still submerged under water and still not suitable for transportation. 

 

The depression state in the Bay of Bengal will continue causing strong winds and a heavy monsoon, according to latest update of the Meteorology Department. There is a high possibility for heavy rains and strong winds in Central, Sabaragamuwa, Southern and Western Provinces. There were heavy showers in certain areas in the Western Province this evening.
