Life through the eyes of an ‘invisible’ migrant

They have no papers, no status, no right to remain. A million undocumented migrants in the UK don’t even exist in the eyes of the law. But they do exist: and they live in constant fear of being caught and deported.

They carry their whole lives on their backs, constantly change their routine, their address and their phone – there is no sense of comfort or stability.

We’ve been finding out what their life is like – through the eyes of a 37-year-old Zimbabwean man who we’ll call Shang.

He’s lived here – undocumented – for the last seventeen years.
