Sri Lanka: Civil activist Asela Sampath arrested

Asela Sampath, the Convener of the Movement for the Protection of Public Rights has been arrested by the Police.
He is National organiser of the Canteen Owners Association as well.
Asela Sampath in his official Facebook page had posted a video in which police officers are seen taking him to their custody.
Police Media Division confirmed that Asela Sampath has been arrested but didn’t provide any further details on what charges he was arrested.
Recently, Trade Minister Bandula Gunawardane complained to the CID against Asela Sampath for allegedly making false allegations against the relief package provided by him through Sathosa. (NewsWire)
