Long Covid study spots hidden lung damage

Researchers who’ve studied breathing problems in people with Long Covid say the virus may have caused microscopic damage to their lungs.

It could explain why people are still experiencing breathlessness after contracting the disease, despite not needing hospital treatment, and other tests, including CT scans, coming back normal.

The team, from Oxford, Sheffield, Cardiff and Manchester say it’s the first evidence of an impact on underlying lung health – as Jane Deith reports.
